DO NOT OVERWORK

Do not overwork to be rich or wealthy. (Proverbs 23:4) Work with moderation because when you work for long without taking a break, you are prone to making mistakes which increase your stress and reduce your assets. Therefore take regular breaks so that you can recover and replenish your energy reserves.

Emulate God and rest by taking a break from your work for at least one day every week. (Genesis 2:3) Obey Him for in Exodus 20: 8-11 He tells us to remember the Sabbath by keeping it holy and resting from our work. Therefore make Sunday a work holiday and a holy day by going to church and engaging in non-work related restful activities. If you must work on Sundays, then dedicate another day to the Lord as your holy day and holiday so that you can rest as He renews your spirit.

Avoid overworking as it also makes you more susceptible to stress related illnesses such as chronic aches. Set  sensible working hours and do not let the pressures of piling work raise your blood pressure.

Working late into the night, during holidays and over weekends also makes you more prone to social problems due to absenteeism partnering and parenting. Therefore, cease from overworking because of your own understanding (Proverbs 23:4) and before you are seized by spiritual, physical, mental, emotional and social problems.

When you are tempted to overwork, remind yourself that unless God builds the house or the business or the ministry, those trying to build it are working or overworking in vain. (Psalm 127:1)

Therefore rather than waste your time and energy, ask Him to guide you in all your endeavors (Proverbs 3:6) and you shall be successful for it is useless to rise up early to work or to sit up late burning the midnight oil overworking or to eat the bread of sorrows worrying for God gives His beloved sleep and success. (Psalm 127:1-2)
